We are concerned about the high rate of sexual violence, physical violence, trafficking in minors and discrimination due to disability that affects children and adolescents. There are risk factors such as the lack or weakness of public institutions or services in poor communities, the poor quality of these services, and cultural factors that justify the use of violence to correct or train children.One case that moved was that of Yuri, a girl of only eight years old, who in 2003 was horribly abused and later murdered in a small town in Huánuco. Finally the crime went unpunished. Cases like this show that the Peruvian judicial system does not meet the demand for justice of millions of people living below the poverty line.Therefore, it is necessary to develop a critical attitude that questions the relations of gender violence and authoritarian and sexist cultural practices.
